A joint meeting between IFAC PAIB Committee, PAODC Committee and CICPA was held in the afternoon of October 15th, 2013. Mr. Yu Weiping, Assistant Minister of Ministry of Finance, P. R. China attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Dr. Chen Yugui, Deputy President and Secretary General of CICPA presented an overview of the Chinese accountancy profession to the committee members.

　　Mr. Yu highly appraised IFAC’s role in developing international accounting and auditing standards and strengthening its adoption, promoting the value of accounting and maintaining the stability of global financial markets, improving market transparency, and promoting economic recovery. He said that China attached high importance to the development of accountancy profession, the utilization of IFAC platform to fulfill China’s obligations and play its role, and exchanges and coordination with international counterparts.

　　Mr. Yu proposed three points for further development of global accountancy profession. Firstly, the advantages of the profession and public responsibilities should be recognized for the leadership and a stronger voice in global economy. Role of positive consultation should be strengthened in global, regional and national levels, to play an active role in restructuring of global economic governance. Secondly, coordination between IFAC members should be promoted to provide a dynamic platform for exchanges between them, especially for consistent convergence of international standards. Thirdly, the demand of accountancy profession in emerging economies should be paid more attention to recognize the development breakthrough and difficulties and provide more support for their efforts.
